Based on an individual affected student's complaint or a report of the Anti-Ragging squad, against a student or a group of students, the Anti-Ragging Committee shall immediately determine if a case under the above mentioned acts under "What constitutes Ragging" is made out. If a prima facie case is made out, the Dean (Student Welfare/Registrar) shall file an FIR within twenty four hours of receipt of such information or recommendation, with the police and local/district authorities under the appropriate act/acts as found by the Anti-Ragging Committee. The Anti-Ragging Committee shall continue with its own enquiry initiated under Clause 9 (Administrative action in the event of ragging) of the UGC Regulations.
The institution shall punish a student found guilty of ragging after following the procedure and in the manner prescribed here in under:
Provided that where the persons committing or abetting the act of ragging are not identified, the institution shall resort to collective punishment.
